Anyone know of a way I can disable the auto update on Java for some workstations without physically touching each machine? I have about 150 workstations, most of which pop up a notification for an update. These are mostly Windows 7 x64 machines. I don't push patches out right as they're released. Java and adobe updates are a pain in the ass with the pop ups on workstations.
EDIT: Thanks for all of your suggestions. I ended up using Shavlik to copy the Java patch to the x64 machines without executing the installer. Then I ran psexec against a text file (Shavlik can export selected machines to csv in a click) and ran the install silently. This worked perfectly. This slipped my mind, and should have done from the beginning. Less than 5 minutes.
I know this was slightly different than what I originally asked. My first thought was to disable the auto update pop ups until I could get the x64 patch worked out with Shavlik. Shavlik support and I worked together for a few days on this and came to the conclusion there was a problem with the patch itself on x64 machines and Shavlik would not deploy it.
