I have been tasked to plan taking three individual SBS networks with the goal to have a centralized Exchange/AD server. These three companies are owned by a parent company, let's call it Alpha. It own's three sub companies, Bravo/Charile/Delta. Currently, Bravo/Charlie/Delta are chugging along just fine (different locations, 20miles apart each). Bravo is running SBS 2003 while Charlie/Delta are running SBS 2008. Each SBS network is running Exchange.
We want to be able to create an Alpha Forest, with Bravo/Charlie/Delta as trees in that forest. AND have where Alpha Forest is physically located, run Exchange 2010 (we can then connect the client workstations of the three companies with Outlook Anywhere), manage AD from this box (but have backup domain controllers at each of the three locations).
I've never dealt with trusts and what not so I'm pretty clueless on where to start. I'm assuming I have to migrate each SBS network to a Server 2008 Standard box (Move AD/Exchange..etc). Once that is all said and done, setup Alpha with Exchange 2010, establish the trusts and figure out a way to move everyones mailbox to the new server. Sorry if this is confusing, but i'm a bit lost and just need some direction.
