ISP Sysadmins: Service tracking tool implementation

I've been working as a project manager for a B2B ISP where I'm responsible for delivering and maintaining tracking of all networking service deliveries (Fibre, xDSL, Wireless).

I've been using an Excel sheet to keep track of all the data that is relevant to those deliveries. That excel sheet had been developed and maintained by several iterations of my predecessors, so I basically inherited it.

It's actively used by:

  • Implementations (me)- tracking of upcoming and completed projects

  • Sales - Tracking of delivery areas and potential leads (upgrades) and profit margins

  • Accounting - consolidation of inbound supplier invoices with outbound client invoices.

The file has become unwieldy over time due to the massive amount of data it contains. It also has become prone to corruption because of the multiple people accessing it at one time and the several flavors of applications accessing and editing it.

I'd like to make the move to a database, which could be accessed and potentially updated via a web GUI, but I'm no DBA. I wouldn't even know where to start on the design side.

I have a few notions floating in my head about what it should look like, but I've never done this before.

I guess my question is: Has anyone else here implemented something like this, and if so, what approach did you take?

Also, I'm doing this from scratch, but I'm open to premade solutions, as long as they're opensource.

I've looked into several asset ISP client bound services, but none of them really catered to my situation.
