Yesterday I posted this thread about needing help for job interview questions for an IT support job. It turns out that they were looking for two positions and actually felt I'd be a better fit for the other one which is the Network Administrator position. gulp They grilled me on my knowledge of IIS, Apache and SQL Server in addition to asking me about how good of a coder I am.
After I met the IT Manager the CTO came in and talked to me, saying that he is planning on moving their web server to a cloud server followed by their app platform and asked if I could work with the consulting firm in the deployment then administer it. He then offered me a job on the spot.
Now the part where I need more help. My knowledge of SQL is limited to basically installing MS SQL 2005, 2008 and Express for Apps that need it like Exchange and Dynamics CRM. Set it then forget it, never had to troubleshoot it or build complex SQL Servers.
Can you guys recommend resources for me to get more in depth knowledge of SQL Server? I ran out and bought this book as soon as the interview was over.
Anywhere I can get comprehensive text about moving to a cloud provider or what that will look like for us?
Should I begin learning a programming language or two or 9?
