So.. I'm transitioning from the traditional copper T1 internet to a fiber based solution by ATT. I'm currently using the fiber to connect my 2 office buildings, and it's served to me as ethernet, on vlan 100 (for example..). This plugs into my layer 3 switch, on my lan, and packets are routed appropriately. quick dirty rough diagram
Now.. add the internet. ATT is just going to make the internet a Vlan on the existing wire... So.. now i'm just having trouble wrapping my head around not having a traditional top down: internet_router -> firewall -> switches -> devices. Instead, now basically the internet will be entering on my LAN, granted it's a tagged vlan, but.. well see the next crappy diagram
Has anyone setup their network with ATT's OPT-E-MAN like this?
