For a bit of background
Every single facet of IT here is out of date. I'm talking some networking from 1990 (Serial cables/Gandolph routers), software written in 1993 (updated until 2000), printers from 1992 (Dot Matrix), and desktops from 2000 (some are XP, some 7). Not everything is this old, but their main core of work relies on this stuff (some places more then others, but you get the idea). On top of this, they don't have a domain functioning anywhere except their corp office (there is 20+ remote sites).
I have a list of some important modernizations this company needs to move forward and stay secure, but I know they are stuck in their ways pretty bad and I don't have a lot of pull here yet.
I need the proper strategy to make it make "business sense" to them.
How do I present these ideas properly to the my boss (The CEO)? I know he will like to see any cost savings, that's a sure fire bet… but how can I explain to him how something will cost money, but will improve productivity, interconnectivity, security, maintainability, control, etc..?
Thanks for the help!
