Within the last year I have been given additional responsibilities at my job. I have taken over management of group policy, deployment of software updates, managing projects and telecom. This is in addition to the duties that I was hired on to do. However, I have not seen a raise or a new title even though I'm doing a totally different job. I brought this up to my boss yesterday, and he has come back saying he can probably do 5% but will "push" for more. At my current pay rate I think that 20% is more appropriate. I'm just not sure what SysAdmins are supposed to make. I currently make less than $20/hr.
I think these job duties all fall under System Administration and that would be a fair title to have. However, we don't have any SysAdmin positions for me to compare against. What would be a fair salary/wage for this type of work? Am I being screwed with them offering 5%?
Also, there is another system coming in that I am expected to absorb as a backup/secondary admin. This system typically has a dedicated administrator when implemented at a single facility. I'm expected to absorb the backup duties for 5 facilities without any offer of a pay raise or position change. Primary admins for this position often make $80,000 to $130,000/year depending on experience. Is it unreasonable to expect $60,000 to be backup for 5 facilities in addition to my other duties mentioned above?
I am looking for other jobs, but there is so much potential at this company if they would get the department structure together. I don't want to leave, but I will if they push too much. What do you guys think?
